About

My background is in chemistry (hence the “periodic” in the name, I love a good pun!). Science has always been a big part of my world, and those analytical skills help to boost my innovation and creativity. I have an alarm set for 7:25 to watch Jeopardy every week night. Sometimes this includes pacing in the living room to get my steps for the day. I would love to be on the show and take the online test every time it is available.

There’s so many places in the world I want to go. I won my 5th grade geography bee. I guess I’ve always liked the idea of foreign locations and traveling. When someone asks me where I’d really like to go, my answer is always everywhere. Three continents have pins on my travel map so far, but I’m always looking to add more.

I want things in my world to be unique and interesting. Everything on the walls of my house must be handmade (photographs totally count!). Creating helps fuel my desire for one of a kind things. I learned to crochet when I was 13, and started making anything rectangular. Eventually I taught myself to read patterns. Between Jeopardy and all the yarn, you could say I’m a bit of a grandma. I’m ok with that.

I love bold colors! Our house has a few bold accent walls, and our kitchen cabinets are teal. The same color teal as my first car, actually. Which, I still have the brass key to. I attached it to a necklace chain and wear it regularly. Unique DIY win.

My fiancé and I adopted the cutest puppy in the world. He is a stray lab mix we named Gimli. We’ve completely embraced the dog parent life. I’m totally not sitting on the floor right now so Gimli can lay on me as I type. He’s not spoiled at all.

When it comes to food: pasta, potatoes, and pancakes are my jam. Basically give me a plate of carbs and I’m a happy girl! Even happier if I can wash them down with a beer. One of my favorite recipes actually combines potatoes and pancakes. Living in Richmond, VA is a food and beer lovers paradise. If you haven’t been to our city to eat and drink, you’re missing out! While carbs are life, I do try to eat somewhat healthy. It’s a daily struggle, but I try to find balance.

I started this blog to share my ideas about traveling, cooking, crafting, and house projects. Sarcasm likely included. This is something I’ve been tossing around for a few years and finally put into action! I hope you enjoy it.
