Crochet stuffed owl toy with embroidered eyes and beak.

Crochet Owl Pattern – A Quick No Sew Stuffed Animal

This easy no sew crochet owl pattern makes a little stuffed owl friend to give as gifts or sell at markets.

This owl is about 4.5″ tall and 5.5″ wide. Experienced crocheters know that size will depend on the type of yarn and hook size used, as well as your individual tension. Thinner yarn and/or a smaller hook will make a smaller owl, and vice versa to make a larger one. Your owl will be cute no matter the size!

Stitches, Yarn, & Hook

This pattern uses an L (8 mm) hook and a super bulky yarn in pictures (I used Loops & Threads Sweet Snuggles Lite). The owl is stuffed with some fiber fill. I used a darning needle and some additional yarn (Juicy Couture Sparkle) to embroider on eyes and a beak. Stitches used include:

  • slip stitch
  • single crochet
  • invisible single crochet decrease
  • half double crochet
  • double crochet

A few stitches are worked in back loops only or front loops only.

Finishing Details

I used black yarn to embroider the eyes about two rows tall. I find the bigger the eyes the cuter the owl looks. White yarn accents the eyes to make them pop and forms an embroidered beak. The feather tufts at the top are 3 pieces of yarn tied on.

Happy Crocheting!
