Goal Summary for June 2019
It’s hot as hell and time for ice cream; summer is here! I started off June in Asheville and haven’t stopped since. It’s hard to believe 2019 is half over. I managed to complete all of my goals for June and am ready for July. Bring on my birthday month!

Books
The first book I read this month was Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. While I don’t play video games, I did thoroughly enjoy reading this story of a futuristic world involving a large video game contest for a massive amount of money. You’re told in the beginning how things will end – but that doesn’t change how fast paced and intrigued you are while reading it.

I read All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin in practically a day! The story takes place in Nashville and centers around a private school. The narrators switch between a couple of characters across two generations to tell the story of a scandal centered at the school. (Maybe school scandals are a new theme for me after reading Big Little Lies in April?)
Explore

At the beginning of June I was in Charlottesville for work and hit Three Notch’d Craft Kitchen & Brewery for a meal and flight before heading back to Richmond. This place was awesome! I got their fish and chips. It was excellent. You can’t go wrong with fresh fish and beer batter. From my flight, Firefly Nights, a pale ale, stood out.

I also started the month with a visit to Coco + Hazel. They’ve been on my radar for awhile and we finally got a chance to go. We each got a milkshake (The Rosengarten and The Blackout). They were fantastic. 10/10 would highly recommend. Forget a beach body and get a milkshake body.
More recently, Sarah from Sippin Cville hosted a wine lover’s meetup at Knight’s Gambit Vineyard. We did a blind taste test, appreciated mountain views from the vineyard’s lovely patio, and enjoyed meeting new friends. It was fun to catch up with Stephanie & Kevin from Rations and Old Fashioneds too. We were drawn to the Chardonnay as it was quite refreshing and light on such a warm day.
Craft

I finished a baby blanket for a friend. I did a the same blanket, but in different colors for her first son. The pattern is from Rebecca at Little Monkey’s Crochet but I used two strands of yarn to make a thicker blanket.
Fitness
I lifted a total of 12 times this month like I planned to, I just didn’t stick to the days I had scheduled. I feel stronger! In April my fitness goal was an ab challenge, but when the month got crazy I didn’t finish it. In July I’m going to try again.
